Amongst the rushing crowds of excited race-goers slowly making their way to the track at Flemington Racecourse, we were ready and prepped for a big day out in The Birdcage. The hottest ticket to have at the Melbourne Racing Spring Carnival, access to Flemington’s Birdcage sees you sipping on champagne and rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous.
We were invited by Maison MUMM Champagne to join their the exclusive, invite only marquee. GhMumm did not disappoint, it was definitely the marquee to be in with DJ’s spinning upbeat tunes, tantalisingly tasty canapes and free flowing champagne. From the moment we walked in, it was like a scene from the Great Gatsby; camera flashes from paparazzi, confetti shooting into the air and live entertainment. Oh the entertainment! A band fronted by an amazing vocalist, vivacious dancers and awe-inspiring aerialist acrobats…One word – WOW. Did we mention there was a pool in the middle of the marquee too? GhMumm became the first to make this centrepiece a reality.
Being Crown Oaks Day at Spring Carnival, the theme of the day (and attire) was light and feminine. We collaborated with Rodd & Gunn to be dressed from top to toe. We decided on a blue and white colour palette inspired by their classic window pane suit, The Carlisle. A white shirt acted as the perfect base to show off a bit of personality with a patterned tie, which contrasted (and complemented) an ivory checked pocket square. To complete the look I wore Rodd & Gunn’s Marshwall semi-brogues made in a deep, rich mahogany leather.
Just like all our suits, we had our trusted tailors at The Fitting Room on Edward work their magic on The Carlisle. They did an amazing job tailoring the suit to my body, with a slim fit in the waist (keeping the shoulders broad), as well as tightening and hemming the pants.
We had an amazing day in The Birdcage showing off our Rodd & Gunn suit, seeing the men’s and women’s fashions, meeting other influencers and of course, celebrating with only the best GhMumm Champagne.
