We were OUT at the Races to celebrate Brisbane’s biggest and most colourful party. Doomben Racecourse played host to an array of live entertainment including world renowned recording artist Asta. With endless bottles of the finest wines flowing and Fashions on the Field a highly anticipated fixture; the day was destined to be memorable.

Walking onto the grounds of Doomben Racecourse, you could sense the excitement in the crisp winter air. A classic Brisbane blue sky with sun shining bright set the tone for a day of colour and light-hearted fun. We were welcomed at the Sirromet Garden with bright smiles and Champagne bubbles at the ready. After a quick toast to the day ahead, we mingled amongst the exclusive zone enjoying the sounds of an acoustic guitar accompanied by live singing. Our thirsts were not disappointed with a variety of fine wines, champagne and spirits on offer.

Nearby on the Main Stage, Fashions on the Field was getting into full swing with the womens heats. Up next was the mens, with an impressive lineup of gentleman. My right hand man Rav and I were arguable standouts and went straight through to the finals. With all the finalists gathered on stage, it was time for the judges to decide who should be awarded Best Dressed. The announcement came….number 45! Realising this was myself (woo!) I graciously accepted my prize, giving a nod to the brands who made my look a winner.

My look would best be described as dapper chic with colourful accessories to compliment the Races’ theme. My go-to white Uberman pants played base to a brown sports jacket by Marks & Spencer, featuring a subtle check pattern. Pops of colour were provided by James Harper’s new season accessories – my tie, pocket square and lapel feather. Style tip – feathers will be BIG for lapels gents! And to stay shaded, Pacifico Optical sunnies finished it off.

Once Fashions on the Field was done and dusted, the rest of the day was spent in the beautiful Sirromet Garden indulging in glasses of Rose and champagne (our group’s drinks of choice). We tried our luck on the horses with several races taking place throughout the event. I have to tip my hat to Sirromet Wines, the day was a roaring success.

After a long day of friends, fine wines and racing; we gathered in front of the Main Stage once again, dancing into the night to the tunes of Asta. Singing all her hits and then some, the show played as the perfect finale to OUT At the Races. A toast to Sirromet Wines and Brisbane Racing Club for an unforgettable experience.
