A trip to Italy’s Amalfi Coast is not complete without experiencing the magic of Positano. It’s no secret as to why this seaside town’s popularity has exploded over the past decade with its piled colourful buildings creating a postcard worthy scene. The best way to enjoy this incredible setting is with a sunset cruise aboard Positano Boats.
After a day of hiking up and down Positano’s notoriously steep walkways, we were primed to put our feet up and set off into the sunset. We made our way to the Positano Boats stand conveniently located on Positano Spiaggia Grande (Positano Beach). Following a quick sign-in process, we walked mere steps to the boat dock where we met our friendly captain Mario and boarded our luxury vessel.
Mario was born and raised in the Amalfi Coast region and was clearly was versed in nautical trips along the Tyrrhenian Sea. From the moment our journey at sea started we were at ease, with a glass of Prosecco in hand. Our boat featured a large front sundeck which provided ample room to stretch out in comfort. Within minutes of departing, we began to notice the incredible mountainscape stunningly framing the picturesque towns below. We headed further out to sea to truly appreciate the changing hues of the sunset as it lowered over the island of Capri.
As we admired the rich blue ocean surrounding us, Mario surprised us with an intimate concert on the water. Playing a mix of traditional and contemporary tunes on the accordion; we were blown away by his talent and charm. We really appreciated the personal touch with Mario choosing love songs to enhance the romantic setting.
As the sky began to dim, we headed back towards the mainland and beheld an unforgettable sight. All of Positano had turned their lights on, reflecting twinkling gold across the water. The pictures can never do justice to the spellbinding scene in real life. If you have the opportunity to visit Positano we highly recommend taking a sunset cruise with Positano Boats. It was one of our most memorable travel experiences to date!
