The most liveable city in the world was the perfect place to hold the first on the F1 event on the 2018 calendar. When it comes to car racing, it doesn’t get bigger or better than Formula 1. F1 draws the most skilled and speedy drivers, along with a slew of international sports stars and celebrities keen to catch a glimpse of the action.
For us, Saturday at the Grand Prix meant witnessing the all important qualifying race and having a blast with our mates at the Heineken Village.
The qualifying race determines the order in which the drivers lineup in the final the next day, so everyone puts the pedal to the metal and fights it out for that critical pole position. The qualifier is a great chance for racing fans to see all-out-speed!
We were excited to watch Lewis Hamilton (who also happens to be one very dapper gent) take pole position. It was great to witness the qualifier both trackside and on the superscreens in the Heineken Village.
The Heineken Village had the ultimate race day setup. From the moment we walked in, we could hear the music pumping with some stellar DJs on the lineup and those huge superscreens meant you never missed a moment of the racing. Within minutes we had our Heineken hats on and headed to the bar. With a beer in hand, it was time to explore the Village to see what else was on offer.
Nestled underneath Heineken House was a beauty bar where F1 goers were able to get their hair and makeup done, without having to miss any of the action onstage or on the track. We were glad to our coifs tended to after being in the rain and wind earlier in the morning – got to love that unpredictable Melbourne weather!
Once the nail biting qualifier was finished, it was time for Heineken Saturday’s headliners to take to the stage. When Taboo & Apl.de.ap from The Black Eyed Peas came out, the party well and truly got started. Everyone was on their feet dancing and singing along to their hits.
Our Heineken Saturday ended in the perfect way with moody sunset skies, a cold beer in the hand, primo entertainment and surrounded by people having an awesome time. Looking forward to next year already!
