Nestled in the lush Balinese rainforest, Chapung Sebali is a mystical escape near Ubud. The luxury hotel is set amongst acres of rice fields and wilderness but offers only a select number of suites and villas to ensure personal service and serenity. This unique boutique atmosphere is unparalleled in Bali and our stay at the hotel was nothing short of exceptional.

When we arrived at Chapung Sebali we instantly felt at ease. The calm surrounds and accommodating staff set the tone for what was to come. We were shown to the exclusive check-in lounge to enjoy a mocktail and were gifted a special dragonfly charm bracelet for good luck. The check-in lounge exuded luxury and style with a careful combination of Indonesian and Scandinavian influences.

We stayed in one of the hotel’s Deluxe Pool Suites which echoed the stunning aesthetic of the check-in lounge. The generously sized suite is epitomised by a private infinity pool with incredible views over the Wos River Valley. The pool is accessible from the lavish bathroom which features a large tub sharing the jungle outlook. The bedroom and living spaces were equally impressive with ample space and multiple zones creating a sense of home. On the breakfast nook was a selection of exotic fruits to enjoy including snake fruit and mangosteen.

After settling in, we strolled to the Blind Pig Lounge and Bar to savour the complimentary afternoon tea. The immediate ambience of the room was undeniable. Colourful yet classic; the space was a delight for the senses with rich velvet furnishings, soft lighting and a live piano performance. We sat by the glass wall and stared out at the natural surrounds as our selection of tea and coffee was brought to our table. The staff at Chapung Sebali are unwavering in their efforts to provide superior service.

We continued to explore the Chapung Sebali grounds and came across magnificent rice fields at the front of the property which reflected the sunset. Shades of pink and blue filled the sky, with palm trees creating dramatic silhouettes. We loved experiencing this magnificent spectacle in total peace and stillness thanks to the hotel’s quiet location.

As night rolled in, we headed to Jungle Fish restaurant for dinner. Candlelit tables lined the balcony inviting us to make the most of the open-air eatery. On the menu are a considered selection of Asian and Mediterranean dishes. The romantic feel of the restaurant makes it ideal for couples wanting to spoil each other with a delicious meal.

The flavoursome food continued in the morning as we returned to the Jungle Fish restaurant to experience their impressive breakfast. On offer was a continental buffet well supplied with everything from pastries to pastas. Additionally, we were able to order a further two dishes each from the breakfast menu. To say we ate like kings we be an understatement. The view from our table was even more enticing than the evening prior as the valley was now fully illuminated with morning light.

Our overindulgence at breakfast called for several hours by the pool to recover. Located a few steps below the restaurant is the Jungle Fish Pool Bar which surrounds a huge infinity pool. Although the water looked inviting, we decided the hanging daybeds adjacent were the ultimate place to savour a cocktail or two.

Keeping with the theme of relaxation, we booked a Vichy shower experience at the spa. As we entered the treatment room, we were in awe of the outlook. The spa is located deeper in the valley and therefore provides incredible views of the various rainforest foliage. Our pampering began with an invigorating foot scrub and aromatic oil massage before enjoying the Vichy shower itself. The Vichy shower room is a most serene space boasting a tranquil koi pond and muted lighting. As the water flows, you feel a sensation of floating on water which leaves you feeling so calm and rejuvenated.

Throughout our stay at Chapung Sebali, serenity and relaxation were a constant. From the amazing valley views to the impeccable service and hospitality, we enjoyed a seamless stay that left us craving more of this jungle oasis.
