Glamourous retro detailed interiors, ridiculously comfy beds and a free mini bar; there’s a lot to love about the Ovolo Inchcolm. One of Brisbane’s hottest new boutique hotels, the Ovolo Inchcolm is a triumph bringing life to one of the city’s most historic buildings.

Located in Spring Hill, Brisbane, the Ovolo Inchcolm is situated on the cusp of the CBD which makes for a convenient yet slightly quieter destination. We like this slight separation from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, as a stay away should always be an opportunity to relax and unwind.

As you enter the Ovolo Inchcolm you’re struck by the stunning architecture of the building’s past revamped with moody wallpapers, rich jewel tones and metallic finishes. The bar and lounge areas invite you to enjoy a quiet drink or two whilst admiring their curated collection of vintage oddities. In the sitting area, a treats trolley offers up free candy and fruit infused water for all guests. These complimentary touches really set the Ovolo Inchcolm apart from any other hotel in the area.

The courtesy continues upstairs in our expansive suite where the mini bar is declared as free for the taking and a ‘Loot Bag’ filled with delicious bites is yours to find. The Ovolo Inchcolm offers a variety of rooms to suit your tastes. We opted for the more traditional Thompson Suite featuring a deep green feature wall, four-poster king bed and rich wooden furnishings. Contrasting the beautiful heritage elements were contemporary touches such as modern artwork, a sleek bathroom space and state of the art technology (Alexa, I want to listen to ‘Vacation’ playlist’). If you’d prefer a less traditional room, the Ovolo Inchcolm also offer Loft rooms which feature double storey floor to ceiling windows which enhance the already light and bright interiors.

After a lengthy soak in our indulgent free-standing bath; we headed downstairs to enjoy a cheeky Happy Hour drink (again, complimentary to all guests) and dinner at Salon De Co. It’s rare to enjoy fine dining from the comfort of your hotel so this was a real treat for us. We enjoyed a range of dishes, each exploring new territories of taste. Salon De Co boasts creative flair yet undeniable culinary skills. Even a seemingly simple side of bread was divine and possibly the best rye we’ve ever eaten!

Full from our hearty meal, we retired to what can only be described as the comfiest bed imaginable. If you are in need of a good night’s sleep, snoozing in a four-poster king bed is an experience we highly recommend. We may have slept in a little longer than planned as the rooms are very quiet and calm. In the morning we made our way back to Salon De Co for a continental breakfast, which is yet another freebie for guests.

Ovolo Inchcolm’s successful mix of glamourous suites, exceptional dining and countless freebies will have us coming back time and time again. For those wanting a unique stay in Brisbane’s CBD, the Ovolo Inchcolm is a clear frontrunner. Be sure to book direct with the hotel to enjoy the many complimentary offerings.
