Perched prestigiously atop Bukit Peninsula, the Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa takes the 5-star experience to new heights. From panoramic ocean views to impeccable service; every aspect of the resort soars above expectation.
Upon arrival, we enter the luxuriously large lobby and catch our first sight of the resort’s sweeping sea vista. The hotel’s high vantage point provides superior, uninterrupted views of the shoreline and mountainscape in the distance. This prime position also offers a sense of seclusion with no other hotels visible in the nearby surrounds.
A friendly Navigator shows us to our Junior Suite which is located near the hotel’s main amenities and features a tranquil forest outlook. The suite exudes modern luxury with high quality materials and distinct style elements such as a marble floating bath and intricate tile work. The living, dining and bedroom zones are cleverly laid out so as to maximise the room’s utility without hindering the open plan flow.
After settling in, we head to R Bar for a few cocktails. Situated just steps from the lobby, R Bar boasts some of the best views at the resort and has a playful, upscale atmosphere. We take up residence on one of the day beds which is positioned perfectly to enjoy the sunset. The changing tones in the sky create a magical scene, casting candy coloured hues across the calm ocean.
As our stomachs start to rumble, we stroll downstairs to indulge at Double Ikat for dinner. This premium dining experience specialises in authentic Indonesian cuisine served in a chic setting. On the menu are traditional dishes fused with contemporary influences, our favourite being the Babi Guling (Bali’s famous roasted suckling pig). The friendly chefs answer all our culinary queries with eagerness and we learn more about the indigenous cooking methods. Following our delectable meal, we head back to the suite and treat ourselves to a bubble bath before bed.
When we awake the next morning to a beautiful sunny day, we decide a short shuttle trip to the resort’s beach club Roosterfish is on the cards. The Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa offers the best of both worlds with the main resort providing privacy and unparalleled views, and the beach club affording direct access to the sand. The vibe at Roosterfish is fun and youthful with live DJs on the decks and young coconuts the drink of choice. We relax on a set of comfy sun loungers and take in the tropical surrounds. After a quick dip in the pool (including a trip or two to the swim-up bar), we order a few light meals – the tacos are a must-try! The shuttle then picks us up and we are soon back at the resort in time for sunset yoga.
Following our serene stretch session, it’s time to turn up the heart rate and head to the 24/7 gym. The workout zone is fully equipped for both cardio and weightlifting lovers alike. The treadmills face floor to ceiling windows looking out onto incredible mountain views (if we ever needed an incentive to exercise, we found it). The gym is conveniently located next door to the Spa, so we finish off the evening with a rejuvenating steam and sauna to soothe our tired muscles.
We’re not usually keen to throw back the covers in the morning but knowing the buffet breakfast awaits us at Clay Craft Restaurant, we hop out of bed with haste. The breakfast offering is overwhelmingly broad with Asian, Indian and European options catering to all tastes. Our table fills with an abundance of dishes including the hotel’s signature Bali eggs Benedict and freshly made custom crepes. The buffet centres around a clay studio which gives the restaurant its namesake as well as its beautiful unique dishware. We take the opportunity to try our hand at the potter’s wheel with a master craftsman guiding us.
Our last afternoon is spent wandering around the peaceful koi pond garden and lazing by the infinity pool, reflecting on our time at the Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa. The amenities, food and views were most impressive; however it was the friendly, knowledgeable staff that eclipsed our unforgettable experience. A stay at the Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa is a must for anyone looking to elevate their Indonesian holiday to a luxury getaway.
